The location field you see when you view or edit the insurance form is a dual format field. This means you can use the field as a free format field and enter what ever information you want, or, you can use the field as a coded field. A coded field tells the system to look in a library for the information and place it in block 31 on the HCFA 1500 form. The Vendor/Location Library allows you to enter a complete name and address of the facitliy where the service was performed. In order for the system to distinguish between a free format field and a coded field you must place a percent (%) symbol as the first position for coded fields. The next three characters are the code of the facility. To enter all the locations at one time, go to the Master Menu -> Maintenance -> Vendor Library -> Update Library -> Add. Enter all of the facilities where services will be perfomed and assign a unique three character code to each. Use this code, preceded by a %, for the location field on the insurance form.
